Methods of Processing Chicken Manure

There are many processing methods for chicken manure, such as drying, stacking and fermentation. 

The basic requirements for chicken manure processing are that the processed chicken manure products should be commercialized products that are convenient for storage and transportation and should be dried. It must be insecticidal and sterilized, meet hygienic standards, and have no unpleasant smell. The nutritional value of chicken manure should be preserved as much as possible. No secondary pollution shall be caused during the processing of chicken manure. 

Dehydration and drying method 

The moisture content of fresh chicken manure is very high. Through dehydration and drying, the moisture content of chicken manure is reduced to less than 15%. The commonly used device is the chicken manure separator

On the one hand, it reduces the volume and weight of chicken dung and is convenient for packaging and transportation. On the other hand, it can effectively inhibit the activity of microorganisms in chicken manure and reduce the loss of nutrients (especially protein). 

Dehydration and drying methods mainly include high temperature rapid drying method, natural drying method and chicken house drying method. 

Fermentation process  

The fermentation treatment of chicken manure is to use the activities of various microorganisms to decompose the organic components in chicken manure. It can effectively improve the utilization rate of these organic substances. The special physical and chemical environment formed in the fermentation process can also basically kill pathogenic microorganisms in chicken manure. According to the different types of main microorganisms in the fermentation process, it can be divided into aerobic fermentation treatment and anaerobic fermentation treatment. 

  • Dynamic fermentation with oxygen. Under the conditions of appropriate temperature, humidity and sufficient oxygen supply. Aerobic bacteria multiply rapidly and decompose the organic matter in chicken manure into components that are easily digested and absorbed. At the same time, hydrogen sulfide, ammonia and other gases are released. After being treated at 45~55 ℃ for about 12 hours, high-quality organic fertilizer and regenerated feed for deodorization and pest control can be obtained. 
  • Biogas treatment. Biogas treatment is an anaerobic fermentation process. At present, many chicken farms use water to clean dung due to the limitation of the dung cleaning process. The moisture content of chicken dung thus obtained is high. The biogas method can directly treat the chicken manure water, which is a significant advantage of this method. Biogas produced is a kind of combustible gas with high calorific value, which can provide energy for production and life. However, if the biogas slurry formed by biogas treatment is not properly treated, it is easy to cause secondary pollution. 
    Therefore, at present, a better process route for biogas treatment of water-washed chicken dung is: first, solid-liquid separation of water-washed chicken dung, drying of solid part, and making organic fertilizer or feed. Secondly, the liquid will enter the temperature-regulating tank, and then enter the high-efficiency anaerobic tank to produce biogas. The supernatant formed after biogas production is discharged into the aquatic plant pond. Then enter the fish pond to make the nutrients in the supernatant be used by aquatic plants and fish. At the same time, the problem of secondary pollution has been basically solved. 
  • Compost fermentation. Composting refers to the process of transforming nitrogen-rich organic matter (such as chicken manure) and carbon-rich organic matter (such as straw) into humus, microorganism and organic residue under the action of aerobic and thermophilic microorganisms. In the process of composting fermentation, a large amount of inorganic nitrogen is converted into organic nitrogen and fixed, forming a relatively stable, consistent and basically odorless product. That is, humus-based compost. High temperature of 50~70 ℃ is generated during fermentation. It can kill pathogenic microorganisms, parasites and their eggs and grass seeds. This kind of compost is a kind of high-quality organic fertilizer with lasting fertilizer effect, which can improve soil structure and maintain soil fertility.
